I Don't Have To Like You Til death we'll fight and scream Stop wearing my things I may love but not like You make me happy more than mad I guess you're alright Throughout the Years Soft and sweet, I may not deserve For you I shall always serve From days past, you've always been kind Even as you leave, you stay on my mind I think websites create guidelines for the public to ensure that some peoples comments don't go to far within their posts. I don't believe that people should have to leave their actual name and email address because it should remain the commentators choice on whether or not they would like their personal information out in the open. I disagree with the amount or longevity of words you can add to your comments. Sometimes it actually does take a long statement to get your point across. I think online commentating is a great way of engaging conversation because it allows the person to stay comfortable in their own opinions without any threats of others and they also feel as though their opinions are actually making a difference.
Student Opinion Article Yahtil Jimmy Devin The play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry has many intriguing roles such as Walter. Walter is the father of Travis, son of Lena (mama) and husband of Ruth. His role requires a lot of talent as an actor. Certain points, Walter is driven insane with a lot of greed and stricken with much sadness of his loss. Danny Glover can play the part really well but he at times seems to over-react at times. Sean "Diddy" Combs on the other hand doesn't do as well and needs to add more character to his role.In all honesty, Sydney Poitier acts out the character perfectly with his body movement and emotion.
During the scene where Walter came into the house looking for the check, all of the characters were showing great enthusiasm except for Sean Combs and Danny Glover who were not expressing actual human expressions or behavior. Danny Glover came into the house and began speaking in exaggerated sentences. Combs seemed to be very upset about the check. Sydney Poitier spoke excitedly, he didn't really gesture wildly or change his pitch as many other characters. In the final remake of this movie, Sean Combs was cast as Walter. Obviously out of all three of the actors i believe that he is the worst. In the scene where he figured out that he lost the money and was confronted by Momma, it sounded so fake. I felt as if he was not into the movie at all. When Bobo took him outside to tell them he lost the money he did not sound lost or pissed just blank. The only scene that i believe that he did well was when he reacted to the news about his wife. He had a nice way of controlling the sound of his voice in that scene. Out of all three actors, and all three movies, I believe that Danny Glover was the best actor. I found no wrongs in any of his acting. His acting was the best in my eyes. In one scene while telling his mother that the family was gonna take the money from the owners of the neighborhood. Donald put so much emotion into that one scene which moved me to choose him as the best actor. When I searched my name Jahlik Samarasinghe on google, it showed that I was good samaritan and that I was a leader for speaking at my grandpas funeral service. When people talk about me, I want to be known as a hardworking, athletic, vocal leader. I chose my social problem of racial discrimination on foreigners because a lot of my friends are from other nations outside of the United States and I find it very disrespectful and rude to crack jokes on different minorities just because they aren't American born citizens. My argument on this topic is that, once you become a citizen of the United States, there should be no reason to why you don't deserve the same respect of any other American. The audience I'm addressing include those born in any other nation outside of America. The audience of my satire would include those from Mexican descent because I think they known most what its like to be discriminated. The media I chose was my own opinion because I felt that it was something I could speak on most because it is apart of my everyday life. My satire is effective because it gives countless examples of how hard working these foreign citizens are. I used onomatopoeia- "ZOOM" , Simile- "EWW it tastes like the bottom of a rats foot" Hyperbole- They don't even take care of their own children.
In the packet of Silent but Violent, there are many showings that this story is a satire. It is a Satire because in the story, the boy is trying to be serious by taking a girl on the date but the girl turns out to be the one who messes it up when it was least expected. In the story, the author uses onomatopoeia when he says " SQUEEZE " to describe the noise he makes when farting. When the author says " I blaze through red lights and stop signs " he uses a metaphor. When the author says " Oh, its strong and refried stinky " he used an hyperbole because it was an overstatement when he include " refried stinky "
In the article High School Students Demand Wars In Easier-To-Find Big Countries this was another example of a satire because it was showing how students don't know much about other nations in a funny, sarcastic way. When they said " Back then they only had wars in, like, Germany and England " it was an example of a hyperbole because it showed an overstatement. When he said " Can't we fight in, like, Italy ? Its boat shaped. " It was an example of a simile because he used "like" within his statement. " Foreigners are so lazy. They come to our country to mow our lawns we don't really feel like doing. They come and don't do anything useful other than fix roofs from hail damage, work on old Chevy's, the list can go on for all their "work." I can't stand these people! I wished they'd all just go away back to their boring lives in South America or Mexico. I would just do the work myself but I don't really feel like it most days. These people can't even COOK A DECENT DISH! For example there chefs cant make, refried beans, nachos, decent salsa, and delicious enchilada, or even creamy dips of cheese! Eww they taste like the bottom of a rats foot! They all make me sick! They don't even take care of their own children. They can always find the time to babysit our own though. They think working a day, afternoon, and night job will satisfy their kids needs. Like c'mon now they can do way better than that for Christ sake. I say they all do us an awesome favor and just all leave America and never come back ever again. The faster we get rid of these people the better life in the U.S.A will become. Ship them all out of here like ZOOM!
This is a satire because it shows that many foreigners from different countries are actually really hard working citizens of America and should be more respected in our society and not looked down upon. Also racial slurs towards the foreign community should come to an end as well. These are people too and they can do anything any basic American born man or women can do. |
