The play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry has many intriguing roles such as Walter. Walter is the father of Travis, son of Lena (mama) and husband of Ruth. His role requires a lot of talent as an actor. Certain points, Walter is driven insane with a lot of greed and stricken with much sadness of his loss. Danny Glover can play the part really well but he at times seems to over-react at times. Sean "Diddy" Combs on the other hand doesn't do as well and needs to add more character to his role.In all honesty, Sydney Poitier acts out the character perfectly with his body movement and emotion.
During the scene where Walter came into the house looking for the check, all of the characters were showing great enthusiasm except for Sean Combs and Danny Glover who were not expressing actual human expressions or behavior. Danny Glover came into the house and began speaking in exaggerated sentences. Combs seemed to be very upset about the check. Sydney Poitier spoke excitedly, he didn't really gesture wildly or change his pitch as many other characters. In the final remake of this movie, Sean Combs was cast as Walter. Obviously out of all three of the actors i believe that he is the worst. In the scene where he figured out that he lost the money and was confronted by Momma, it sounded so fake. I felt as if he was not into the movie at all. When Bobo took him outside to tell them he lost the money he did not sound lost or pissed just blank. The only scene that i believe that he did well was when he reacted to the news about his wife. He had a nice way of controlling the sound of his voice in that scene. Out of all three actors, and all three movies, I believe that Danny Glover was the best actor. I found no wrongs in any of his acting. His acting was the best in my eyes. In one scene while telling his mother that the family was gonna take the money from the owners of the neighborhood. Donald put so much emotion into that one scene which moved me to choose him as the best actor.
